Update on Broad River European Motor Cub 2018 Broad River European Classic

Dear Friends of Broad River European Motor Club,

There Is No Broad River European Classic This Year

You may have wondered why you haven’t heard anything about the Broad River European Classic in Shelby.  We had our biggest Classic to date in 2017 and we were anticipating to an even greater Broad River European Classic this year.

Streets at Court Square Are Under Repair as Part of Major Utilities Improvement

Unfortunately, the City of Shelby is undergoing a significant street and utilities improvement project that is going to result in a more beautiful downtown area but will interfere with our use of streets for the Broad River European Classic.  Rather than move the Classic to a less enjoyable location, we decided to not have the show this year and to return on Saturday, April 27, 2019.

An Alternative – May 12th We Are Offering A BREMC Classic Fun Drive for You

However, we still wish to share our Club with you this spring with a fun drive that will take place on Saturday, May 12.  Initial plans are to meet between 8 and 9 am at the Central United Methodist Church parking lot (corner of East Marion and Dekalb streets) in Shelby.  Depart at 9:00 to head to the historic Washburn Store in Rutherford County.  After a visit there depart at 10:45 for the Tryon International Equestrian Center where we can tour the facility and have lunch.  Afterward we will head to one of the area wineries to sample their wares and enjoy fellowship.  Head for home when you wish.

Help Support Local Charities

There will be no cost to participate in the drive, but we would appreciate any donations you make to assist with our charitable efforts.  Each year, the Broad River European Classic raised funds for several local charities.  In recent years, we have made donations to the Cleveland County Boys & Girls Club, Shelby Junior Charity League Clothe A Child program, Officer Tim Brackeen Fund, Teddy Bear Ride for North Shelby Seniors and others.  Your contribution will allow us to continue to support these organizations.

Most importantly, We want you to join us for the ride, donations of not.
