July13, 2021 Meeting

Call to order:

Meeting called to order by President David Poe at 6:41 p.m. We had 32 members present.
David welcomed everyone back and introduced old member back, Mark Bennet and his wife. He recently purchases an 1952 ? MG-TD that has been sitting for 19 years and is just now getting moving.
He welcomed new member, Skip Pate who has a Spitfire.

Officer reports: 

  • VP— We have no Vice President at this time
  • Treasurer – David Diener Current balance is $3,000.50
  • Publications – Corky Guenther  Corky said he is running old articles in the British Marque this month. PLEASE put pen to paper and send in some new material. A friend of his has a 1980 Spitfire for sale (This car has been sold)
  • Events – Randy Wright – Randy is keeping the Facebook page up to date so anyone who wants info on local events should check that.
  • Web Master-- Kathy Ahrendt  Request that everyone use the Submit an Event form to make sure that all of the information needed to post the event is submitted. If you have a classified ad that is no longer needed, please email so it can be taken down.

Old Business:   Events
David asked anyone who has any ideas for trips. So far we have: Bobby Cox suggested a possible car show with the Hawks Hill group in September, A trip after the AutoLawn event in September, we would sponsor this, Kings Mountain and Yellow Deli were also mentioned. Autumn in the Mountains in Hendersonvill is the last weekend of September. It was requested that ideas be sent in on the event form from the website so all of the needed information is provided. Joe Green wants to try another drive-in movie night at his place on the river.

Cars and Coffee— Still at Hickory Bread, last Saturday of the month.

New Business:

Tom Young gave a report on being unable to participate in the Great Race this year and hopes to be ready for the race next year if it is starting on the East Coast.

 Christmas Party – Christmas Party location was discussed and price of $ 250.00 for building. Meal price around $ 25.00. More information will be provided after we talk to the caterer. No mixed drinks unless we hire extra people to serve. We will need set-up and take-down crew from members to get the room ready. We will be talking to the event space owner about getting in early in the day to set up. The menu will be decided in a few weeks. We discussed having china instead of paper plates for the dinner at a cost of $3.00 extra per. person. Most people thought that this would be a good idea.


Randy has finely bought a British car, a maroon TR-6, that fits in his hand. Maybe we can talk him into a Morgan of the same size?

50/50 Drawing:   The 50/50 was won by Mike Outen.Jr. $45.00

Good of the Order: We will discuss the timing of food service with the restaurant in order to speed up the evening.
