In 1994 a car club was formed in Statesville, NC. This club was called the Piedmont British Motor Club. About 20% of the members were from the Catawba Valley area.
A group of about 25 British car enthusiasts ventured out from the Piedmont Club to form a club in the Catawba Valley. The Piedmont British Motor Club's newsletter, The Lugnut, advertised in December 1998 of a new British car club that formed in the Hickory area. The original name for the club was The Valley Hills British Motor Club. Paula Reed volunteered to be the President. Jerry Pritchard and Dewey Keller were advocates in sanctioning this club.
During the year of 1999, the club voted to change the name to Catawba Valley British Motor Club.
The Catawba Valley British Motor Club is still thriving and going strong in 2013.
Note: The British Motor Club of Cape Fear also formed in 1998.
