CATAWBA VALLEY BRITISH MOTOR CLUB MINUTES
APRIL 10, 2018
Our monthly meeting was held at Captains Galley in Hickory NC. We enjoyed some social time starting at 5:30 followed by a nice meal with our friends.
Our President Dean Sprague called the meeting to order at 6:45. We were informed that our dear friends and longtime members, Clay and Loretta Rawn will be leaving our area and the club activities. It was decided to present them with a going away $100 gift certificate as well as a card signed buy all in attendance. Clay and Loretta will be missed and we wish them well. Dave Ault has agreed to replace Clay for the 50/50 money collection in the future.
The officer’s reports were started by our vice president, David Poe, including a couple of funny jokes that we always enjoy at our meetings.
Diana Makransky, our treasurer, reported our balance of available funds was $ 3,211.00.
Publications editor Corky Guenther, recapped upcoming articles for the British Marque, and encouraged members to submit any stories of interest for future publication.
Kathy Ahrent, our Webmaster, reported all was well with our site and encouraged us to use it for club news and event reference.
One of our events coordinators, Jerry Sicard, recapped upcoming events including:
The Elite Vehicle Restorations open house on Saturday April 14;
Steve Monroe’s trip to his friend’s, Powell Sigmon, private car collection in Newton, NC on the 19th of April;
The Shelton Vineyards Car Show in Dobson NC on the 21st of April;
Joe Green’s Drive In Theater party at his home on June 8th;
The Spring Fling Tour scheduled for June 9th hosted by Gary Shaver and Tom Young; and our last Cars and Coffee for the season at Atlanta Bread on April 28th.
Under Old business, most favorable comments were made concerning our recent past events including the last cars and coffee, the Road Trip to Harris Leather and Italian Restaurant, and the Columbia Car Show and Tartan Games.
Joe Green was the lucky winner of our 50/50 drawing.
