October 10, 2017 Meeting
Call to Order: Dean Sprague called the meeting to order at 6:40pm. Thirty-nine members were present as were three of Dean and Bev’s grandchildren.
Officer Reports:
VP David Poe—Dean Sprague and David Poe took a road trip to Maine to visit Dean’s family in Maine. Both enjoyed the trip and saw lots of boats. David Poe does not like lobster!
Treasurer Diana Makransky: The treasury amount is $2695.00.
Membership Gary Shaver: There are presently 57 members and 2 have already paid dues for next year. Gary attended the Wooly Worm Rally.
Publications Corky Guenther: There is still time for someone to submit an article for next month. Dean Sprague will ghost write them for you if you need his help.
Events Erik Jordan:
October 14 Brits and Brews Cruise In at Old Mecklenburg Brewery, Charlotte, NC 2pm – 5pm
October 19 Charlie Reed organizing an eat-in at the Yellow Deli in Hiddenite. Let Charlie know if you are interested in attending.
October 26 Priscilla is looking into this.
October 28 Wooly Worm Rally in Elkin, NC at 10am. $10.00 per person.
November 4 Uwharrie Mountains British Car Meet in Denton, NC at 10am.
November 19 Young Tom’s Turkey Trot Road Rally 2pm – 4:30pm at Sasha’s on the Lake Catawba, NC 28609. The fee is $25.00.
Mike Rhyne will help to plan an event at Roush Ford Mustang Company to drive to the company and test drive Mustangs.
Charlie Reed is willing to set up the Catawba Veterans’ Parade or the Claremont Parade if anyone is interested. Please let him know if you would like to attend.
Web Master Kathy Ahrendt: Nothing new to report.
OLD BUSINESS:

Outdoor Movie event: Joe Green is planning this event and it was moved to spring 2018.
NEW BUSINESS:
Christmas Party charity was voted on: The results were as follows: The Salvation Army (13 votes), Highways and Hedges (5 votes), Foothills Conservancy (5 votes), and Safe Harbor Rescue Mission (16 votes). Safe Harbor will receive the money accrued by the silent auction.
Elections in November for FY2018. Gary Shaver will step down as Membership Chair and this position will be absorbed by Webmaster, VP and Treasurer. Corky Guenther will stay on as Publications but the projector and audio-visual duties will go to David Diener. Other than these changes, the officers will stay the same on the ballot. Voting will take place at the next meeting.
The Christmas Party was discussed. The club had earlier approved the payment of $5.00 per meal and a vote was taken to increase the spending amount of the new committee to $300.00. See Bev Sprague if you would like to join the committee to organize the event. At the November meeting Kathy Ahrendt will need a head count and money to give to the hotel.
50/50 Drawing: Clay Rawn was in charge of the event. He received $64.00 in tickets so Gary Shaver, the winner, went home with $32.00.
