CVBMC Meeting Minutes June 13, 2017

Call to order: President Dean Sprague called the meeting to order at approximately 6:45pm. 41 people were in attendance.

Officer Reports:

VP David Poe—David Poe distributed the ballots and survey sheets for members to fill out. People were asked to give priority to their preferences. During the month these sheets will be tallied with a report at the July meeting.

Treasurer Diana Makransky—The treasury has $2698.33 in it. New updated software for the Website was purchased for $149.00.

Membership-- Gary Shaver: There are 56 paid members for 2017.

Publications—Corky Guenther asked for new articles for The Marque

Events—Erik Jordan Erik was out of town. Check the Website for current events.

July 8—Rock Barn Car Show Conover, NC—Website indicates not having it this year.

Gathering of the Faithful--March 2018 in Florida.

Webmaster Kathy Ahrendt—Purchase of new software for the year was $149.00. Kathy negotiated a better plan with the same company. Check out the Website.

Old Business:

Several events were reviewed by those who attended them.

Historic Sports Car Races VIR attended by Dean Sprague, Dave Poe and David Ault. The main attraction was riding in a private jet!

Table Rock Sports Car Club’s Mountain Tour—Gary said the event was great and there were mountain roads to drive on. He will gathert information on the event so more will participate next year.

Mossfest in Petersburg, VA attended by the Ahrendts, Guenthers, and Makranskys. The British Sports Car Hall of Fame was there. 300 cars were in the event including British cars and Miatas. It was a five hour drive to the event and no car problems were reported by the group from our club.

New Business:

The Club presented a going away gift and card to Logan Keller who graduated from Discovery High School on June 8 and will be attending UNC Chapel Hill in the fall. She has been a faithful member and will be missed by everyone.

Time was taken to vote on the list of “What events should the club do to increase participation in membership?” Dean Sprague and David Poe will tally the results and present them at the last meeting.

Kris Sicard researched the restaurant, The Judges, in Morganton for a venue for club meetings. The rate was $125 for each meeting and was deemed too expensive to use for our meetings.

For the Good of the Order:

Kathy Ahrendt mentioned a TD for sale in Valdese for sale. The ad will be on the Website and email her if interested.

There was a request for a classic car to be driven for a November 19th wedding to take the couple two miles. If interested check with Kathy Ahrendt.

David Poe told the story of his wedding when the couple took off in a MGA. His friends and brother took off after them. David thought he had lost them, but his brother-in-law had gone off the road and claimed they were racing. No charges filed!

50/50 Raffle Money collected was $96.00. Tom Young won $48.00.
