CVBMC Meeting Minutes May 9, 2017

Call to order: President Dean Sprague called the meeting to order at approximately 7:00pm. .49 people were in attendance.

Officer Reports:

VP David Poe—David Poe listed places for events for the club which are being recorded in the list below. David also congratulated Ken Edgar on his recent article in The Marque.

Treasurer Diana Makransky—The treasury has $2977.23 in it. Kathy Ahrendt discussed the Christmas Party for December and a motion was made to charge the club members $17.00 for the meal and the club will pay $5.00 per person. Motion passed. Kathy has put a deposit down of $170.00 to reserve the Crowne Plaza room.

Membership-- Gary Shaver: There are 55 paid members for 2017.

Publications—Corky Guenther asked for new articles for The Marque

Kathy Ahrendt told about attending the Shelby Car Show. Kathy’s car took 2nd place.

Erik Jordan attended the Sheldon tour. Our club had 10 cars present.

Dean Sprague began an open forum discussion concerning events and ways to increase participation and interest in the club. The following were the suggestions offered:

David Poe—Breweries (Asheville), Lake Lure (boat trip), Little Switzerland (gem mines), Hiddenite House Museum & Lunch at Yellow Deli, Parkway Touring, Jefferson Museum, Hickory Air Museum, Grandfather Mountain, Reed Gold Mine

Kris Sicard --Picnic maybe Price Park on Blue Ridge Pwky, Distillery on 226 out of Marion (on to Bennett's)

Speakers in Monthly Meetings – Maybe once a quarter?

Picnic for a summer meeting – in a park – Club to provide ham, members bring the rest.

Car Boot Sale – bring an item to sell, set up in the parking lot of the restaurant until 6:00 Make it a way to mingle and talk to others than who you normally sit with at the meeting.

Next month we will vote on these ideas.

50/50 Raffle Money collected was $82.00. Dean Sprague won $41.00 and the club received $41.00.
