CVBMC Meeting Minutes April 11, 2017

Call to order: President Dean Sprague called the meeting to order at 7:02pm. . 48 people were in attendance. Clay and Loretta Rawn had two relatives, Duke and Faith, from Illinois with them.

Officer Reports:

VP David Poe—David Poe read a second letter of thanks from the Red Cross. We are now family with them and they hope we will give again!

Treasurer Diana Makransky—The treasury has $2932. 00 in it.

Membership-- Gary Shaver: There are 55 paid members for 2017.

Publications—Corky Guenther asked for new articles for The Marque. He has submitted a “bug eye” article for the next issue. Kathy Ahrendt has been working on an article to submit to Corky.

April 21 The Gathering at Shelton Vineyards, Dobson, NC

April 29 Hickory High Band Car Show, scheduled for Saturday from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at Hickory High.

April 29—, Broad River European Classic in Shelby NC. Registration from 9-11am.

April 29-- Uwharrie Mountain’s British Car Meet at Higgins Farm in Jackson Creek NC. 2732 Bescher Chapel Rd. Denton, NC 27239. Bring a covered dish. From 10-6.

April 29 Newton Conover Rotary Car Show. 10-3.

May 6—Christ Lutheran Church, Hickory, NC. Car Show 9-1

May 13— Best of British Classic Car Show at Wrightsville Beach Park. Registration begins at 9am.

May 20—Triangle British Classic Car Show in Raleigh, NC. North Hills on the Forks Rd.

Old Business:

Dean Sprague told the story of attending the Carolina British Classics XI in Aiken, SC. Frank Mullins offered those who attended to stay in his home. David Poe, John Adamson, David Ault, Dean Sprague and his son Jason attended. Plaques were won by all.

Steve Monroe reported on attending the Charlotte Auto Fair.

New Business:

The trip to The Gathering at Sheldon Vineyards Auto Show on April 22 was discussed. The group will meet at Four Brothers in Wilkesboro at 9am and will continue from there.

For the Good of the Order—

Wayne Starnes' brother Larry is helping sell Wayne's cars. Currently for sale is a 1956 Austin-Healey officially on the market. He will accept around $90.000.00 for it and it is appraised for over $100, 000.00.

David Ahrendt is working on his MG TC. Hopefully, the third time he rebuilds this engine he will be successful.

Ken Edgar has a garage project underway. The slab has been poured.

Logan Keller and Gary Shaver are participating in the May 6 rally. If anyone else wants to attend, please contact Gary for details.

Clay Rawn has a red, 1975 Triumph which he can’t drive anymore. He is entertaining bids for it.

David Poe has parts for a Triumph Spitfire and if anyone is interested see him. He sold his Spitfire.

Dean Sprague is currently working on a Sprite “Bug Eyed” car.

50/50 Raffle Ann Diener won the amount of $50.00. The Club received the other half.
