CATAWBA VALLEY BRITISH MOTOR CLUB

The club met on July 14, 2015 at Billy’s Bar-B-Que on Hwy. 70 in Newton N.C. President, Bobby Cox brought our meeting to order and welcomed 52 members and visitors. We had five members driving their LBC’s, some with tops down, even thought there was a 60% chance of rain. I have to say Gary Shaver for the first time I can remember did NOT drive his LBC. We welcomed five new members into our club this month, one couple all the way from California.

Denny Kaylor and his friend John from The British Car Club of Western North Carolina came to invite us to their 16th Annual “Autumn in the Mountains- A British Car Gathering” to be held September 26, 2015 at Jackson Park in Hendersonville, NC. Their sponsor is “Jaguar/Land Rover of Ashville and all proceeds will go to “Meals on Wheels” in Hendersonville and Buncombe Counties. Sounds like fun for a good cause.

Gary Swinkey also visited and gave a report on the Car Show held at Rock Barn. It was their first event and they were pleased to have 74 entries. The date for next year’s event has been set for Sept.17, 2016.

Dick Lunney gave a presentation on “Dick’s Big MGB Adventure” for cancer victims. He drove 3,400 miles in 17 days, stopping at places such as Niagara Falls, Montreal, Toronto, raising a total of $4,000.00 for the Cure for Cancer for Children. Dean Spraque made a motion that our club donates $100.00; this was seconded by Mike Outen and approved by club members.

Jerry and Kris Sicard told of an outing this week-end at Lake Lure. They have made arrangements for any members interested to enjoy a boat ride and a nice lunch on the lake. Thank you guys, you always do a great trip.

David Barlowe won the 50/50 drawing.
