July 9, 2013

The July meeting was held at the Harbor Inn Seafood restaurant located on Fairgrove Church Road in Hickory, NC.

Call to order - Welcome
President Dean Sprague called the monthly meeting to order at 7 PM and welcomed approximately 45 members and guests.  New member Mike Ryan from Blowing Rock, NC was introduced to the membership.  Ken, a visitor from High Point stopped in the meeting because he just happen to see the time and location of our meeting on our website.

Officer reports:

Vice-President, Charlie Reed recognized members Earlene Starnes, Judy Lineberger, Harley Blodgett, Rona Saunders, Sandy Cox and Allen Whitt who are all celebrating Birthdays in July.  Charlie also recognized members Clay & Loretta Rawn, Wayland & Nancy Plaster, David & Leslie Barlowe, and Steve & Nancy Simmons who are all celebrating their anniversaries in July.

Treasurer, Priscilla Guenther gave the clubs financial report for July.

Membership, Harley Blodgett was on vacation so he will report on membership in August.

Publications, Corky Guenther expressed his appreciation for the articles he’s received and his hopes are that they will continue.  Corky also presented the Rally awards.  Tom & Elsie Young placed first, John & Molly Adamson placed second, Dean & Bev Sprague placed third, and receiving the Tail Ender award was Dennis & Diane Makransky.

Events, Erik Jordan passed on events since Bobby is giving an update on the Collector Car Appreciation Day.

Old Business:  Bobby Cox talked about all of the plans that have been made for the SEMA Collector Car Appreciation Day event to be held July 13th.  He expressed the need for all members to help during the event since it is possible to have 200 to 300 cars show up that day.  The club is paying for all of the food and drinks and hopes to make money through donations for food and the 50/50 drawing. Bobby was pleased at the number of members that showed up at the park last Sunday for an organizational meeting.  He asked for members to bring ice in coolers if possible, and Kathy Ahrendt asked members to wear their name tags.  Bobby said there will be newspaper, radio and TV coverage announcing the time and place.

Presentation:  Diane Deaton who is a master jewelry maker from Marion, NC was introduced by Kris Iscard.  She displayed necklaces and ear rings that she had made to the women of the club while most of the men spent their time in the parking lot looking at members cars and kicking tires.

Dean Sprague won the 50/50 drawing.

The next meeting will be at the Harbor Inn and Seafood restaurant in Hickory, NC on August 13th.  Our speaker then will be Steve Biggerstaff from Dr. Vinyl.
