It seems that when September rolls around we have two, three and even four events to choose from every weekend. It makes it hard to decide which event to attend. But having the variety is a good thing.

This September was no different. We ended up with a CVBMC picnic hosted by one of our members and a car show to raise money for a local charity on the same weekend so the club members divided and conquered both.

We decided to attend the car show and spent a bit of time getting the TC spiffed up – it hadn't been to a show in a couple of years. We hopped in the car on the morning of the show and headed out. As we came to the stop sign at the end of our street, we ended up sailing through the sign and then sort of diving to the left. Not a great start to the day. We gingerly turned around and headed back to the house. Unpacked the boot and moved everything to the MGA. Never let a “failure to proceed” ruin the day!

When we arrived at the show we were directed to an area set aside for British cars. Ten other club members were there so our group made quite a showing. The show organizers had set up a pop-up tent for our group for shade which was a welcome addition to the show. It's a very well organized show and they had great food and drinks available and the owner of the property had his “collection” of memorabilia available to view if you wanted to see things other than cars.

The show was judged (we never really saw who was judging) and they must of liked British since four of our members won awards.

In addition, one of our members won the 50/50 raffle that was raising money for a local women's outreach center. He very generously donated his portion back to the charity.

It was nice to see members we don't see very often and have a relaxing day. On the way home we noticed a member pulled over in a parking lot so we stopped and gave moral and tool support as he fixed his throttle cable. He did get his car to the garage and now has a new cable installed. Remember, always give a good pre-flight before you head out! (Dave & Kathy please read this before taking another car out.)

And now to the brakes... after putting the car up on the lift it was discovered that the wheel cylinder in the right front was wet. Since the brakes were done many years ago, it's on to doing a brake job on the whole car to freshen it up. Unfortunately, some of the new parts are proving to be a bit sketchy, so we'll have to see how long it takes to get everything back together again.
