Thursday June 24th, 17 hardy souls cracked open their garage doors and let their LBC's free! For many it has been over a year since our British rides have seen the outside, let alone a spirited run.

Yes, we planned a trip to one of our favorite picnic spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway. And although the weather was not the greatest, we managed to find a nice spot by the creek, set up our picnic and also share in some tasty salads and desserts provided by our members. It was nice to be able to sit around, catch up with old friends and meet some new ones. We did this picnic on a weekday since this particular spot on the Parkway becomes a mad house on the weekends.

Once we had eaten, we gathered everyone for a ride across Grandfather Mountain, through some twisty roads to get our driving skills honed. For those not familiar with the NC area, Grandfather Mountain is one of the tallest sections of the Blue Ridge and an immensely popular place. Right now, they only allow a specific number of visitors per day and reservations are required. Since we did not plan that far ahead, we just by-passed the entrance and headed up through Banner Elk and back down to Blowing Rock.

We just could not ignore the call of ice cream so most of the group stopped at the local outlet mall where a popular candy and ice cream place is located. Michigan cherry was one of the many flavors that sounded really interesting. Some of us took advantage of being at the outlets to stock up on some items – saving another trip up the mountain in tourist season!

Thanks to David Poe for leading our band of merry cars. We will try to make the next one for a weekend so everyone can join in the fun.

Check your brake lights . . .

It is nice to have someone ride behind you every once in a while. We found out that the brake light relay switch was a bit hesitant on our car by having a trusted person behind us on this trip.

Something for all of us to check.  Since without external input, we don’t know.  Another thought, pull in the garage, close the door, step on the brake and check them yourself.
