For our July Cars & Coffee, Kris Sicard, suggested that we meet at the McDowell County Chamber of Commerce & Visitor's Center in Marion where she volunteers.  The center is located along the US 221 corridor and welcomes more than 15,000 visitors a year.  There are several picnic areas available and we set up in one near the entrance.  The club provided pastries from a local shop and coffee from Dunkin’ Donuts along with an assortment of other beverages.

About 2 dozen of us made the trip on what was a very pleasant day and a welcome change.  David Poe led several of us on a drive up to the Blue Ridge Parkway where we did a drive through of the Linville Falls recreation area parking lot which was full to overflowing.  There were a number of Chrysler Crossfires parked together.  We joked to Jerry that it was about 10% of the total production.

The group separated after that with several of us stopping at Woodland’s BBQ in Blowing Rock for lunch.  It was threatening when we stopped so it as tops up.  After lunch we headed down 321 to Lenoir with tops down again only to have to stop about half way down when it started to rain.  A deluge followed but all were dry.

We had a great time and if you have ideas for other venues where we can meet while maintaining social distancing guidelines etc. please let us know.
