Our 2019 Christmas Party was held, as it has been for the last few years, at the Crowne Plaza in Hickory. As is our custom, there was a silent auction and a raffle for some Food and Special items (read Jerry’s sculpture). The 406 Auction netted $406.00, the Raffle for Food and Special Items netted $400.00 and there was an individual donation of $150.00 for a total of $956.00 which rounded up to a $1000.00 cash donation to Safe Harbor of Hickory, our designated charity organization. In addition members contributed approximately $300.00 (a Van full) in household material donations from Safe Harbor’s wish list.
Jackie McKool, Safe Harbor’s Development Director (pictured with President, Dean Sprague) attended our January meeting and gave us an update on their activities and progress during the past year including the completion of their new building and the expansion of programs that made possible. Erik Jordan also reminded us that Safe Harbor can accept cars which they then provide to graduates of their programs who need transportation to and from work.
