December 2016
By Corky Guenther
The Catawba Valley British Motor Club held the annual Christmas party December 9th, 2017. The location was as it has been for the last several years, the Crowne Plaza Hotel Ballroom. A committee chaired by Bev Sprague and assisted by Kathy Ahrendt, Margie Blodget, Bobby and Sandy Cox, David and Ann Diener, Dottie Ferguson, Clay and Loretta Rawn, Rick and Miriam Harris and Tom and Elsie Young setup the room requiring significant effort to organize and set up the Silent Auction items donated by the membership and the table decorations.
A diverse selection of items donated - food items, craft items and yes, car related items - provided something to interest all of the members present.
Jerry Sicard donated another of his original wood carvings, a Santa Claus raffled separately.
Rumors circulated concerning the inspiration for the figure with Corky Guenther and David Ault being most often mentioned (see photo). David Barlowe was the winner of the drawing.
Altogether, the raffle and auction raised a total of $825.00. Our designated charity this year is the Blue Ridge Piedmont Chapter - American Red Cross and a check was presented to Suzan Anderson the Executive Director of that organization at the January meeting.
