Finding and reclaiming vintage British cars is never easy, and requires being at the right place at the right time, witness Wayne Carini’s “Chasing Classic Cars program”.  An original British car, 1974 1/2

Mk 11 Jensen Healey, #19180, was located in covered indoor storage here in Lenoir, NC. A local British car collector had owned it. Not registered since 1985, it was stuck in a corner of one of several garages. It is in all original condition, in a very rare ‘Mustard’ color with black vinyl interior & top. Fresh oil & filter, and a new battery had the Lotus engine turning over nicely, so it was decided to purchase it and begin to refurbish it while keeping it as original as possible, but improving its reliability. European Dell’Orto twin carbs & manifold were removed and USA original Strombergs & manifold were replaced. Original USA air cleaner assemblies & connections were also located in order to pass the rigid NC engine inspection to be legally licensed. New front disc brakes were put on, and the original 13” wheels cleaned up nicely. The gas tank was pulled and flushed, radiator sent out for cleaning, a new starter and water pump from the Jensen Healey club, new timing cog belt, hoses & numerous other small items were required to get it roadworthy.

Tomorrow it goes to the body shop for some attention, but leaving it all original paint.  This car is very rare due to its unusual color, with front & rear sway bars, Koni shocks, front fog lights, AM/FM factory radio, & general overall condition. The car came with the excellent original convertible top, tonneau cover, factory optional hardtop, tool kit, & a front bra.

It goes without saying that without the generous support & assistance of the owner, Mr. Alan Witt, this car wouldn’t be ‘alive’ again to enjoy.

Further updates will be sent pending completion of this ‘resurrection’!
