CATAWBA VALLEY BRITISH MOTOR CLUB
Minutes
August 13, 2013

The August meeting was held at the Harbor Inn Seafood restaurant located on Fairgrove Church Road in Hickory, NC.

Call to order - Welcome
President Dean Sprague called the monthly meeting to order at 7 PM and welcomed 51 members and guests.  

Recognized members driving British cars
10 members drove British cars to the meeting.

Recognized members wearing club badges
17 members wore club badges to the meeting.

Officer reports:

Vice-President, Charlie Reed recognized member Diane Makransky who is celebrating her birthday in August.  Charlie also recognized members , Harley & Ellaine Blodgett, Rick & Miriam Harris, Steve & Constance Snyder and Jan & Harmima Van De Klashorst who are all celebrating their anniversaries in August.

Treasurer, Priscilla Guenther gave the clubs financial report for August as $1,808.74.

Membership, Harley Blodgett reported there are 68 paid members, and reminded the membership that a paid member includes the spouse.

Publications, Corky Guenther reported he needs articles or he won’t have any to submit to the Marque.

Events, Erik Jordan said there is a cruise in Conover on Saturday the 17th and other events in August would be posted on our website.  Jerry Sicard mentioned the Hot Nights Cool Rides show in Forest City, NC on Saturday.  Charlie Reed said that those interested in a weekday getaway the on Tuesday the 20th he is planning a trip for those interested to Memory Lane Museum in Mooresville, NC, and finally Rona Saunders has invited all members to her house on August 24th for a hot dog and ice cream social.

Old Business:  Bobby Cox talked briefly about the SEMA Collector Car Appreciation Day event held on July 13th.  He said approximately 71 cars showed up for the event while he was expecting 200 to 300 cars but the threat of rain must have kept the attendance low.  Bobby thanked all of those members by name that helped with the event.

Kathy Ahrendt presented the club with a $250 check from NAMG in appreciation for the help that the Catawba Valley British Motor Club members gave them during their GT-38 MG show in Asheville, NC

Presentation:  Steve Biggerstaff, owner of Dr. Vinyl of Hickory, NC talked about all the different things that his company could do.  This included repair, replace or re-dye interiors; repair paint; repair convertible tops; install pin striping, graphics, etc.

Steve Monroe won the 50/50 drawing.

The next meeting will be at the Harbor Inn and Seafood restaurant in Hickory, NC on September 10th.  Meeting Adjourned.
